According to Camelot the delay in amending certain criteria is due to the UKGC providing scant details and further to this have breached some key aspects of the selection process.

In response to the allegations, the UKGC has vehemently denied any wrongdoing leading to Camelot citing transgressions allegedly committed by the regulator. the transgressions include the use of good causes funds to support the bid. Should this issue not be settled soon it will have an adverse effect on the National Lottery.

Allwyn Entertainment is said to take over in 2024 but at this stage does not seem very likely and Camelot stand to lose a contract worth between £80 -108 billion and they will not be going down without a fight. It is also noted that should Camelot lose the bid their UK arm will fold due to bankruptcy and it's more reason for them to justify their pursuing the legal action.

Another fear is that the license may not be able to pass from Camelot to Allwyn adding to the woes and essentially blocking the lottery operations. The UKGC is however confident this will not happen and stated that any purposeful delays would damage good causes.

Allwyn and Camelot came very close in the final scoring by the UKGC, but Allwyn won with 87,2% compared to Camelot's 85,7% and here Camelot queried a 15% discount that the company accounted for however was never added to the scoring.

Should this matter not be resolved soon it will cost the UKGC a hefty £1,2 billion.
